Perfect way to transfer cities in Europe!

My partner and I were looking for a way to get to Prague from Berlin. We didn't want to take a long train, and didn't want to bother with a flight. The side trip tour was perfect! Our guide and driver, Stepan, was so knowledgable and friendly. He did a great job explaining the historical significance of each of the landmarks and cities we stopped at, and he was a Czech native so he also helped answer a few questions about our destination, Prague. Being able to store our luggage in the car while we daytripped around our stops was great, and I even got to nap in the car during the remaining drive. I hate transferring cities during travelling because it always feels like a waste of time, but this felt like a great use of tjme, I would definitely use this service again!

    What we'll do

During the tour we walk around the Moritzburg Palace grounds admiring the garden and the park views. We do not enter the palace but we get a close-up look. On the steps of the palace is also a chance for everyone to find out if they have what it takes to be a fairytale princess by trying on Cinderella’s shoe.

    About Moritzburg Palace

Moritzburg Palace is named after Duke Moritz of Saxony who built a small hunting lodge here in the 16th century. The king August II the Strong had the current Baroque-style palace built in the 18th century as his country seat.

The palace is surrounded by a stunning park and gardens area. Ironically, none of the plans (and there have been many) for the garden have been fully finished, and the work with them is still continuing.

  • Stop 2: Dresden Old Town

In Dresden, we take a look at the extravagant Zwinger Palace, learn about Dresden Old Town and its legends, and then sit down for a delicious lunch.

    What we'll do

During the tour we walk around the historic city center of Dresden. You will see the Royal Residence , the stunning Zwinger Palace , the Dresden Frauenkirche , and the famous Procession of Princes – world’s largest porcelain art work. You will hear stories about August II the Strong and the Second World War during your walk around the town center. In Dresden you will also have time for a lunch break (not included).

    About Dresden

Dresden has a long history as the capital and royal residence for the Electors and Kings of Saxony. Today Dresden is Saxony’s second biggest city after Leipzig with population around 550 000 people.

The city is considered one of the most beautiful in Germany. It transformed into a Baroque landmark in the 18th century. This development started under the rule of the legendary king Augustus II the Strong. Most of the historic Dresden had to be rebuilt after the Second World War because much of the city was destroyed.

  • Stop 3: Elbe Sandstone Mountains

Take in the breathtaking views of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains at one of its most famous sights - the Bastei Bridge.

    What we'll do

The whole area of Elbe Sandstone Mountains offers incredible views. We visit one of the must-see locations - the Bastei Bridge . The bridge was built when the area became popular to visit in the 19th century. From the Bastei rocks and the Bastei Bridge you have a wonderful panoramic view over the mountains and surrounding evergreen forests.

    About Elbe Sandstone Mountains

The Elbe Sandstone Mountains are situated on the border between Germany and Czech Republic. Both countries have designated the area as a National Park, in Germany the Saxon Switzerland National Park and in Czech Republic the Bohemian Switzerland National Park.

The mountains here are not very high, the highest peak is the Děčínský Sněžník with 722,8 m on the Czech side. These sandstone mountains are millions of years old and eroded down by wind and water.

Sidetrip tours is a winner! Exceeded our expectations!

Filip, our driver/guide, was wonderful. He was punctual with our airbnb pick up in Berlin and ensured our comfort throughout the duration of our journey. The van was very spacious for 5 adults. The stops at Moritzburg Palace, Dresden Old Town and the Sandstone Mountains were excellent. We had a nice lunch in the old town square in Dresden and had some additional time to browse the local shops. Flip was able to provide some recommendations for our first time in Prague.. We would highly recommend Sidetrip tours and Filip for anyone making the journey from Berlin to Prague.

Our new best Friend from the CZ

Martin collected us from the hotel door and from there the learning began. Martin was friendly and open with aa many questions as we had answered giving us fantastic conversations for the whole trip. The vehicle was modern safe and clean with some great stops along the way to break up the trip. Great way to transfer to Prague and the classroom gave us a head start on the time we spent touring Prague.. What a great small business to use and support and our experience was fantastic!
