Fun day with Sidetrip!

We were picked up On Time by Peter and Alex. They were fun, friendly and informative. They showed us many sights and gave a lot of info. They were very knowledgeable about both Hungary and Slovakia. They made the ride fun. When we stop, they knew a lot about the places and one of them stayed with us at all times to make sure we didn’t get lost. I was sorry that we won’t be having any more tours with them but if I come back, they will definitely be who I ask for. I highly recommend them. Fun tour. Very nice people.

  We stop by the Danube River to take in one of the most impressive churches not only in Hungary but probably the whole of Europe. Esztergom Basilica is a masterpiece of sacral architecture from the 19th century. We have a chance to admire the Classical style church from both banks of the Danube River.   Esztergom Basilica is located on the Danube River in the city of Esztergom. This city was the most important city in Hungary in medieval times. It was a royal residence and the heart of the state before Buda’s rise in importance. The many invasions to this area, first by Mongols in the 13th century and later Turkish invasions in the 16th and 17th century destroyed the old Esztergom.   During the tour we walk around the Old Town of Györ. It’s famous for Baroque style houses and a fabulous Town Hall from 1900.   Györ is one of the most important cities in Hungary. The city has a population of about 130 000 people. It’s located on the Danube River. The river has brought people, trade, and wealth to the region throughout history. In the 18th century the city prospered and that is when most of the beautiful Old Town was built. Despite heavy damage to the city in the Second World War Györ has been extensively renovated since the 1970s.

  This tour offers hotel drop-off for private bookings. Please provide your preferred drop-off location when making the booking.

For open group tours, hotel pick-up is not available. The group tour meeting point is opposite the Hotel Ritz-Carlton at Erzsebet Square (Erzsébet tér). Your guide will meet you at this location.

  Yes, this is a one-way tour ending in Bratislava. Please note that the tour does not take you back to Budapest.

• How long is this tour?

  The planned duration of this tour is 9 hours. For the safety of our passengers and drivers, we are unable to accommodate requests to extend this duration.

• Do you offer hotel pick-up/drop-off?

  Hotel pick-up and drop-off are only available when booking this tour as a private tour for a single group. Open group tours have a fixed meeting point and drop-off location.

• Can I take my luggage with me?

  Yes! We have space for luggage, similar to common airline baggage allowances. There is no extra charge for luggage that meets these criteria:

  • One item of airline carry-on size: maximum size of 55 x 40 x 23cm (22 x 14 x 9in)
  • One item of airline checked size: maximum size of 80 x 50 x 30cm (32 x 20 x 12in), weighing less than 23 kg (50lbs)
  • One personal item: maximum size of 15 x 15 x 10 cm (6 x 6 x 4in)

• Is lunch included in the tour price?

  Lunch is not included in the tour price but a lunch break is scheduled in Esztergom. Location of the lunch is subject to availability. Kindly let our tour leader know if you have any special dietary needs that we should take in account.

  Yes! With a maximum of 8 people in each group, our guide can make sure that the pace of the tour is suitable for everyone. Just note that the tour does include some walking at the stops.

• What is your cancellation policy?

  If you cancel more than 48 hours before the tour, your booking is fully refunded*. If you cancel less than 48 hours before the tour or in the case of a no-show, no refund is issued.
