About Sedlec Ossuary
The Ossuary in Kutná Hora, also known as the Sedlec Ossuary or the Bone Church, is a unique historical site located in the Czech Republic, beneath the Cemetery Church of All Saints in the district of Sedlec. It is renowned worldwide for its captivating yet macabre interior decorations crafted entirely from human bones.
The ossuary's history dates back to the late 13th century, when the adjacent cemetery became a highly desired burial site after soil brought from the Holy Land was scattered there. Over subsequent centuries, particularly due to plague epidemics and the Hussite Wars in the 14th and 15th centuries, the cemetery became overcrowded, leading to the exhumation and storage of bones beneath the church.
In 1870, a local woodcarver named František Rint was commissioned by the Schwarzenberg family to artistically arrange the bones. Rint transformed these skeletal remains into elaborate designs, including a striking chandelier, coats of arms, pyramids, and other intricate ornaments that fascinate visitors today.
Today, the Ossuary in Kutná Hora stands as a powerful reminder of the transient nature of life and the universality of mortality. It attracts over 300,000 visitors annually, solidifying its status as one of the Czech Republic’s most captivating and visited tourist destinations.

About Lednice Palace
The Lednice Palace and Gardens, as we see them today, were redesigned in the 19th century as a luxurious summer retreat for the aristocrats. The palace itself is considered one of the finest examples of English Gothic architecture on the European continent, with its ornate towers, intricate stone carvings, and grand interiors.
The Liechtenstein family, one of the richest aristocratic families in Central Europe, owned vast lands in the region. Over centuries, they expanded their holdings through wars, strategic marriages, and purchases. Their loyalty to the Habsburg dynasty brought them great influence within the Austro-Hungarian Empire, allowing them to create one of the most magnificent palace complexes in the country.
The palace itself is a masterpiece of Neo-Gothic architecture, with elegant spires, intricate carvings, and grand halls. Inside, visitors can admire lavish chandeliers, fine woodwork, and richly decorated rooms that once hosted European aristocracy. The stunning gardens and parklands surrounding the palace stretch for miles, featuring romantic pathways, ornamental bridges, and even a picturesque minaret, making it one of the most breathtaking landscapes in Europe.
Today, Lednice Palace and its grounds remain a UNESCO-listed treasure, offering visitors a glimpse into the opulence and refined lifestyle of the noble families who once lived here.

Fantastic side trip, we able to maximize our day as we travel with stops to a fascinating and picturesque town. And petra is excellent travel guide 👍🏻☺️
Alexandra was prompt, communicated very effectively, and was very accommodating regarding the trip. She discussed what we were most interested in seeing and in the end she provided a slightly altered route from what was advertised that fulfilled our desires and avoided some potential traffic issues. Not always easy with a party of 7! The van was clean and Alexandra was a good driver, which made our group very comfortable on the trip. It was a nice way to see parts of the country that we may not have otherwise seen! We would definitely consider using this type of transport tour again!
Our driver Martina was wonderful. She was informative, helpful and a pleasure to share the trip with. Was so good in fact that we book with sidetrip again for the transfer from Vienna to Budapest.
